Specifications
OpenMenu is about providing open standards for the restaurant industry to create common languages for the information that means the most to restaurants. Our first standard is the OpenMenu Format - a single, consistent specification to fully and wholly describe a restaurant and its menu items. This is first standard of its kind and we are happy to be leading the industry with our restaurant based standards and systems. We will continue developing the OpenMenu Format and hope to be releasing new standards for the benefit of the restaurant industry in the near future. Please contact us if you have suggestions or comments to shape the future of the restaurant industry.

OpenMenu Format menus/restaurant
A single, consistent specification to fully and wholly describe a restaurant and its menu items. Currently menus on restaurant websites vary in their format, Web pages, PDF documents, Word documents, or scanned images of a menu. Since the format varies this means that nobody can consistently or easily utilize the information on a menu. By providing a single, controlled specification for restaurant menus OpenMenu will ensure that restaurant menus can be easily shared and used by others. This specification is the OpenMenu Format.
